Catering Assistant L1 - Permanent 

Hours of work: 17.5 hours a week, Term Time - Monday - Friday 8.30am - 12pm 

Start Date: January 2026 (date tbc at interview)

There is an expectation that you may need to attend training or staff meetings outside of your working hours, this will be paid as overtime.

Salary Details FTE: LG Band 1, point 2 

Actual Salary: £9,709 - £9,929 based on experience

Moat Community College is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Catering team. Moat runs its catering provision in-house, meaning all catering staff are employed directly by the school.

For this role, we are looking for someone who holds a level 2 food hygiene certificate and has experience within a similar role. You will be a hardworking individual with a flexible can-do attitude and have an organised approach, works well in a team and under pressure in a busy kitchen environment, enjoys learning new skills and has an enthusiasm for catering.

You will have an awareness of food handling procedures and have previously worked as part of a team. 

As a Catering Assistant, you will assist the Catering team/manager in the preparation and cooking of meals, setting up service, washing up dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment and help maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen. 

Ultimately, an outstanding Catering Assistant should be able to comply with all food and health and safety regulations.
