Overview

About Our SchoolMoss Lane School is an small, two-form entry infant school located in the heart of Godalming town centre. We cater for children in Reception, Year One and Year 2.

Our school is a friendly, busy, exciting centre of learning. We believe that learning should be fun. It should help us to grow into productive, motivated, useful people who enjoy our work and our play.

The children benefit from a wide curriculum and our central location gives us the opportunity to enjoy lots of learning experiences in and around the town centre.

We also have a large allotment where the children learn all about plant life and even grow their own fruit and vegetables.

If you wish to know more about the school, please have a look at our website, or better still, please telephone the school office to arrange a visit. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

About Us

Moss Lane School is located just off Godalming High Street. The back gate leads to the parish church and the river. The railway station is five minutes walk from the school and local buses stop in the High Street. Moss Lane School draws children from all over Godalming.

The school, originally Victorian, is in two separate buildings, both of which have been ungraded over recent years. The annex houses the two reception classes, behind which is a small walled "secret garden" where children in the reception classes take time to play and learn outside, grow their own flowers and enjoy other outdoor activities away from the rest of the school.

The main school building accommodates the year one and two class rooms, the school hall, the ICT suite and the newly refurbished library. You will also find the school offices, resources cupboard and staff room in the main building. The playground is surrounded by a stone wall. In the summer the school is brightened up by planters and hanging baskets, and the children enjoy spending time on our vast allotment. We have won several awards for our school environment.

We are involved in many aspects of life in Godalming. Children take part in local events such as fetes, the town carnival and the pancake races. Many Godalming residents are former pupils of the school and we welcome them to events such as our summer and Christmas fairs. We have close links with the local churches and clergy visit to take assemblies regularly. We have an extremely active School Association who over recent years have contributed significantly to the improvement of the school, for example providing over half the funding for our new school library, as well as contributing to school trips, swimming lessons and the purchase of ICT equipment. As well as fundraising they also organise social events for children and parents including Children's Disco, Quiz Nights, Parents' Disco and fun runs.
