Apprentice Nursery Practitioner

Mowbray Education Trust Services Limited are seeking to recruit an Apprentice Nursery Practitioner to work at Oasis Preschool. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in a Preschool and gaining an Apprenticeship qualification in Childcare. 

This role is fixed term for a period of up to 18 months or until the Apprenticeship is completed, whichever is sooner – (this is subject to a satisfactory probation period). At the end of the Apprenticeship you will be able to apply for any vacancies available at that time.

Oasis Preschool is situated on the same site as The Grove Primary School and provides provision for children aged 2+ to school age. The preschool has its own building with various indoor play spaces, sensory room, front garden, back playground, use of school grounds and nature areas.

Oasis Preschool has been recognised as ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted 2015) and is committed to promoting the welfare of local children and families through our inclusive and flexible service; to maximise the potential of each child. We are also expanding our provision with a proposed new SEND Retreat specialist unit opening in January 2020.

Our pedagogical approach to Early Years, which is managed by an Early Years Professional, is driven by various theories, research and approaches which value nurturing, natural, open-ended, language rich, flexible play environments. Our approach supports self-regulatory and lifelong learning skills improving outcomes for children regardless of starting points.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual to provide a high standard of childcare for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years working in both the preschool and specialist provision for SEN.

Role

Working 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm term time only (38 weeks). This is a varied role, and would suit an enthusiastic, adaptable, and flexible individual who is willing to learn. Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English are essential. Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates are desirable. You will have good interpersonal skills and be committed to working with young children and families, and be able to work effectively as part of a small team.

• Salary £4,984 per annum in the first year (£3.90 per hour – National Minimum Wage for Apprentices) – rising in the second year to age related National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage (currently £4.35 to £8.31 per hour dependent on age).
