Performing Arts Technician (theatre)

Full time Permanent

Salary Per Annum - £22,546

Campus – Havering Sixth Form, Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch

The theatre technician will work with the rest of a team, to plan, set up, perform and then ‘get-out’ performances. Technicians make sure that theatre equipment is kept in good working order and that all those using or exposed to it are safe.

The technician will take responsibility for ensuring that the lighting, sound and other technical aspects of theatre performances run safely, smoothly and on time. The successful candidate will have a therefore have good working knowledge of theatre lighting and sound. Also, an ability to work backstage on sets, props and costumes.

The job of a technician therefore demands both methodical attention to detail, in the ongoing maintenance of a performance space, and an ability to improvise and solve unique technical problems as they arise.
