The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and research-driven Research and Innovation Lead to join our Teaching & Learning Lab—a key element of our Strategic Intent and now embedded in the way we deliver professional development. The Lab is a well-established hub for practitioner-led and evidence-informed research, endorsed by our patron Geoff Petty.  You will work closely with the Group Curriculum Director for Teaching & Learning to lead Supported Experiments, manage the eLearning team, and ensure research outcomes and impact are shared through masterclasses, conferences, and publications. Research projects are approved annually by a panel that includes ETF representation. With a dedicated team of eight, The Lab also delivers professional development including bespoke curriculum training, coaching for teachers and managers, and advances in digital and immersive learning. Offering flexible levels of research engagement, The Lab continues to positively influence teaching culture and improve student achievement across the Group. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator and leader to shape the future of teaching and learning through innovative research and strategic development. 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on a research project in The Teaching & Learning Lab and spearhead the monitoring of Supported Experiments across the Group providing guidance to staff, ensuring that these are evidence informed and have tangible impact on student learning.

Manage the eLearning team and align their work with strategic goals.

Deliver professional development and contribute to Staff Development Days.

Share research outcomes internally and externally.

Support quality improvement in Teaching & Learning

About You

A qualified educator with a degree and full teaching qualification (Masters or NPQLTD highly desirable).

Proven experience in managing teaching and learning initiatives that have improved student outcomes.

Passionate about evidence-informed practice and digital pedagogy.

Deep understanding of post-16 education policy and research and experience of post-16 teaching.

Strong leadership and line management experience.

Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills.

Committed to equality, safeguarding, and continuous professional development.
