The Role:
As a Senior Librarian, you will play a key role in delivering an outstanding library and learning resources service that supports student achievement and staff success. You will oversee collection management, promote digital and information literacy, and ensure high-quality access to both physical and online resources. Working closely with curriculum teams, you will help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment while supporting the day-to-day operation of the Learning Resources Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver an excellent front-line library and information service to students and staff.
• Manage and develop library collections to ensure resources align with curriculum needs and learning objectives.
• Deliver digital, information literacy and study skills training through workshops, online sessions and one-to-one support.
• Support the effective operation of the Learning Resources Centre, including supervising learners and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Promote library services, resources and online learning tools across the college.
• Analyse library data and usage trends to inform collection development and resource planning.
• Undertake cataloguing, classification and stock management activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
• Collaborate with academic staff to develop reading lists, learning materials and resource recommendations.
• Deputise for the Campus Library Manager when required and support the training and development of library team members.
Who You Are:
• A qualified library or information professional with experience working in a library, learning resources or information service environment.
• Passionate about supporting learners and promoting access to information, research and digital resources.
• Experienced in delivering training, information literacy sessions or user support to individuals and groups.
• Knowledgeable in collection management, cataloguing and library management systems.
• An excellent communicator with strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• Committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding, with a genuine desire to support learners from all backgrounds.
• A collaborative team player who can take initiative and confidently lead service delivery when required.
