The Role:
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a central role in ensuring learners with additional needs can participate fully, safely and confidently in their education. You will lead a small team of Learning Support Assistants, coordinate high quality support, and build strong working relationships with families, local authorities and external professionals. This is a hands on role combining learner support, team leadership and collaborative planning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and supervise LSAs, providing day to day guidance, coaching and mentoring to ensure learners’ needs are consistently met.
• Develop and maintain support plans, including risk assessments and PEEPs, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Support learners with complex needs, including personal care, mobility support, physiotherapy exercises and health related tasks.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners such as families, social services, transition teams and local authorities.
• Assist in classroom learning to help learners with learning difficulties and disabilities engage effectively in lessons.
• Ensure compliance and safeguarding by following college policies, maintaining accurate records and promoting equality, diversity and health and safety.
• Contribute to reviews and transitions, including annual reviews, taster days, school observations and learner monitoring updates.
Who You Are:
• A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills, able to work collaboratively and use initiative.
• Educated to a good standard with English and Maths at Grade 4 or above, and confident using IT.
• Experienced in providing personal care and comfortable supporting learners with a wide range of disabilities.
• Knowledgeable about supporting learners with additional needs, including those with complex or high needs profiles.
• Organised, proactive and able to prioritise effectively in a busy educational environment.
• Committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and to creating a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Willing to undertake further training such as First Aid, risk assessment or SEND related qualifications.
