Newham College is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Faculty for Tutorials to lead, shape and elevate tutorial delivery across our 16–18 study programmes and adult learning pathways.

About the role:

Reporting to the Vice Principal, you will play a pivotal cross-college role in setting and delivering a high-impact tutorial strategy. This includes managing a team of Progress Tutors and Attendance Officers at our Sixth Form Centre, and working collaboratively with curriculum leaders across East Ham, Stratford and the IoT. Your mission: to ensure our learners are supported, empowered, and equipped for success in higher education, employment, or apprenticeships.

Key responsibilities:

•Develop and implement a college-wide tutorial strategy tailored to diverse learner needs.

•Lead and manage high-performing tutorial and pastoral teams to enhance attendance, retention, and achievement.

•Forge partnerships with universities, employers, and stakeholders to enrich tutorial content and progression opportunities.

•Champion high-quality, innovative, and inclusive delivery that fosters emotional intelligence, citizenship, and personal growth.

•Ensure rigorous quality assurance, self-assessment, and continuous improvement aligned with Ofsted and college KPIs.

•Inspire a culture of high expectations and professional excellence across the faculty.

What we are looking for:

•Significant experience leading tutorial or pastoral provision in post-16 education.

•A track record of improving learner outcomes and delivering high-quality tutorial experiences.

•Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.

•Proven ability to manage staff performance, financial resources, and curriculum planning.

•A teaching qualification (or working towards) and ideally a management qualification.
