About Us:

Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The Role.

The Student Voice & Enrichment Co-ordinator will co-ordinate a small team and work with students and staff to develop, manage and supervise a programme of student focused engagement and extra-curricular enrichment activities which support and enhance the student’s college experience.

They will oversee the election process for our Newham Collective (Student Voice/Student Union), support them to ensure that the student voice process is effective, campaigns are managed appropriately, and arrange termly student voice forums and an annual conference.

Key responsibilities.

• Co-ordinate a small team, agreeing rotas, sickness absence, holiday requests and professional development to ensure staff are supported and developed to be able to carry out their roles, ensuring that all HR policies and procedures are adhered to.

• Provide inspirational leadership for the innovative development and delivery of enrichment and student engagement programmes.

• Inspire and motivate staff and students to fully engage in enrichment programmes by delivering relevant, contemporary content which enables students to develop a broad range of skills, essential for their own personal and professional development.

• Manage the development of appropriate materials and website information to promote student enrichment.

• Lead the continuous development of cross College enrichment activities that promote independence, develop personal, social and employability skills and improve health and wellbeing of students.

• Liaise closely with curriculum, support teams and students to collate up to date and current feedback to shape and drive the enrichment offer.

• Deliver sessions, activities and trips, including following all procedures and completing appropriate paperwork, including risk assessments etc.

• Ensure resources and published materials are relevant and up to date on the websites, VLE and noticeboards.

• Ensure that participation registers are maintained and updated to ensure data required by the College as well as external organisations such as Sport England is readily available.

• Lead on cross college activities such as fresher’s fayre during induction.

• In partnership with the schools liaison team, implement interventions for prospective students progressing into college.

• Oversee the enrichment budget, carry out regular stock check on equipment and order enrichment equipment as necessary, with the authorisation of the line manager.

• Review, monitor and evaluate on a regular basis the effectiveness of the enrichment plan and delivery.

• Contribute to a review and evaluation of the areas Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

• Degree or equivalent in sport or youth work, or recent relevant experience

• Level 2 Coaching qualification

• Accredited First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)

• Level 2 English and Maths or Equivalent

• A good understanding of developing enrichment and student voice initiatives

• Experience of collecting and analysing data to inform decision making

• Experience of organising and delivering engaging presentations
