The Governors of Newport High School are looking to appoint a permanent teacher of French with a TLR2b (approx. £5,972.00 pa) for Teaching, Learning and Progress Lead across our Connect Area of Learning. The Connect Area of Learning currently includes English, Welsh and MFL. Currently we only teach French within MFL. This is an important middle leadership opportunity for an ambitious and experienced teacher who wishes to progress their career.
At Newport High School we have six Areas of Learning – Create, Connect, Discover, Explore, Reason and Thrive. This vacancy is to be Learning and Progress Lead within Connect which includes English, Welsh & MFL.
Each Area of Learning is led by an Area Lead. Area Leads are supported by Teaching, Learning and Progress Leads. The Teaching , Learning and Progress role is specifically to improve the quality of teaching and progress across their Area of Learning. We are looking for an outstanding teacher with experience of improving the quality of teaching across specific areas.
We are seeking to appoint a talented, passionate and highly motivated teacher who can teach French. A good understanding of teaching French at GCSE level and knowledge is preferable. It would be an advantage if you were also able to teach Welsh and/or another language.
Our ideal candidate will have a passion for their subject (s) and will be able to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities. They will have a proven track record in improving teaching and learning and experience of raising standards in the classroom. They will have been responsible for delivering excellent outcomes.
As this is a middle leadership role, specifically to raise standards of teaching, learning and progress across the Area of Learning, we are looking to appoint someone who can lead and manage staff and is passionate about the New Curriculum and the opportunities this allows students to develop their knowledge and skills. This could be an existing TLR holder in a similar role or an experienced Languages teacher looking for their first Middle Leadership position.
