North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, with ‘Outstanding’ learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent and 4,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners’ experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Refectory Lead to manage the day-to-day operations of our busy Gravesend Refectory. This is a great opportunity to lead a small team in delivering high-quality, nutritious food in a fast-paced, student-focused environment.
You’ll oversee food production, menu planning, stock control, cost management, promotions, and ensure high standards of hygiene and customer service. Experience in a busy catering environment and previous kitchen management is essential.
We’re looking for someone organised, confident in leading a team, with excellent communication skills and a flexible, hands-on approach.
To be successful in this role, you should hold a Level 2 Qualification in Professional Cookery or Food Preparation and Cooking. A Level 2 Award in Food Safety / Hygiene is required, along with good general education. Strong knowledge of HACCP, COSHH, manual handling, and risk assessments is important, as well as experience with stock and cost control systems.
As part of the staff of North Kent College Business Services Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of North Kent College), you can look forward to a generous benefits offer, enrolment onto the People’s Partnership pension scheme, free parking, and access to a range of onsite facilities (including restaurants and coffee shops).
