The Governing Body of St Joseph’s Catholic School & Sixth Form Centre is seeking to appoint an exceptional, inspiring and enthusiastic teacher of PE. The successful candidate would be joining a passionate and talented team of staff, and a department that achieves excellent results for pupils at KS4 and KS5. The department are committed to an extensive extra-curricular programme and therefore we are looking to appoint a candidate with the passion to support this extra-curricular provision.
Applicants will need to demonstrate a clear sense of purpose and high expectations for the PE department at St. Joseph’s. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, community-focused and innovative school and to work with wonderful students, committed staff and a supportive leadership team.
Anyone wishing to apply should:
- have Qualified Teacher Status;
- be an excellent teacher, bringing enthusiasm and passion to this role, whilst also maintaining high expectations and commitment to raising achievement;
- be able to inspire and enthuse students;
- have the ability to teach a range of activities across KS3 and KS4. In particular, games such as netball, football, gymnastics, badminton and dance, along with the summer sports of rounders, athletics and tennis;
- ideally be able to deliver GCSE PE. The ability to deliver A level PE would be advantageous;
- make a significant contribution to extra-curricular activities. A specialism in netball, including experience of teaching and coaching netball to students at all levels of ability. The ability to coach a second sport would be desirable;
- have high expectations of students’ achievements and attitudes;
- be able to be creative, innovative and adaptable;
- be able to work as part of a dynamic PE department;
- be committed to our students, with the belief that education has the capacity to transform their journey;
- be able to support the Catholic ethos of the school.
