To start as soon as possible, the Governing Body wish to appoint a responsible, caring, reliable person for the post of school caretaker at Glyncorrwg Primary School, part of the Upper Afan Valley Primary Federation of Schools. This role is temporary in the first instance with the view of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the opening and closing of the school as the main key holder. This role also involves testing of alarms, general maintenance, ensuring pathways and entrances to the school are clear of snow and ice in increment weather and other debris during the year, keeping the yard clear of litter and debris and meeting with external contractors to give information and location of outsourced maintenance jobs.
The Governors will be seeking the following skills/personal qualities.
• Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to take the initiative to deal with problems as they arise.
• Practical skills and a pride in high quality work.
• Good interpersonal skills with adults and children.
• An understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures would be an advantage.
There are no formal qualifications required for this role, as full training will be provided.
