The Governing Body of St Joseph’s Catholic School & Sixth Form Centre is seeking to appoint an outstanding, ambitious, and passionate Teacher of Sociology and Psychology to join our successful Sixth Form team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented practitioner to contribute to a thriving and supportive school community.

As a Teacher of Sociology and Psychology, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching at A-Level, ensuring excellent outcomes and fostering a deep interest in both subjects. You will inspire students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of contemporary social and psychological issues.

St Joseph’s is a dynamic, community-focused and innovative school, where students are enthusiastic, staff are dedicated, and leadership is highly supportive. Our Sixth Form provision is well-established, collaborative and committed to achieving strong academic outcomes and supporting students in their progression to higher education and future careers. Our Sociology and Psychology courses are extremely popular within the Sixth Form, attracting high levels of student interest and consistently strong uptake.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a specialism in Sociology and/or Psychology;
  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for post-16 teaching and learning;
  • Can inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential;
  • Has high expectations for student achievement, progress and attitudes;
  • Is confident teaching A-Level Sociology and/or Psychology;
  • Is committed to collaborative working and curriculum development;
  • Brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to student success;
  • Believes in the transformative power of education.

In return, we offer:

  • A caring and welcoming school with a strong Catholic ethos at its heart;
  • Motivated, respectful Sixth Form students who are keen to learn;
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team;
  • Opportunities for professional development;
  • A strong commitment to high-quality Continuous Professional Development;
  • A leadership team that values innovation, wellbeing and professional growth.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and those early in their career. At St Joseph’s, professional learning is central to our culture, and we are committed to developing all staff.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged and can be arranged by appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to actively support and promote the Catholic ethos of the school. Applications must be made using the CES application form, including a supporting statement outlining suitability for the role.
