About Us

At Oakfield we provide children with skills that they can use now and for the rest of their lives. We believe in traditional values but are aware that we are preparing the children for today and tomorrow. We have a concerted emphasis on developing thinking skills.

We are a school that likes to celebrate success at every level. The life of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve. We aim to bring learning alive, making it exciting, stimulating and fun. We want to give our children a thirst for learning that continues with them throughout their lives.

Oakfield children are provided with an excellent academic education and in addition to this have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of extracurricular activities. Art, sport, music and drama are alive and well at Oakfield!

Oakfield Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Prior to employment you will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Check.

Our school aims to meet its obligations under the public sector equality duty by having due regard to the need to foster good relations across all characteristics – between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it

Overview

Oakfield Junior School is a two form entry school from year 3-6 with approximately 250 pupils, in addition we have a Learning and Additional Needs (LAN) Centre for 18 pupils with a wide range of learning needs. Some of these children are included in mainstream classes in the afternoon for lessons other than numeracy and literacy.

We enjoy a wide range of outdoor facilities including a MUGA, climbing frame and extensive playing fields as we like to play and learn outside at Oakfield.

Our curriculum is experience rich and offers all children access to motivating and innovative learning. Friendly and welcoming, our staff are committed and professional and we like to work with parents to support all areas of  children's learning.

Our 'Friends of Oakfield' PTA is a successful addition to the school that contributes regularly to the school as a whole.
