Head Teachers Welcome

It is my pleasure and great privilege to welcome you to Oakhill Church School where I lead a dedicated and committed team who, together make Oakhill a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Oakhill Church School is located in the village of Oakhill 6 miles north of Shepton Mallet nestled in the beautiful Mendip Hills. The school dates back to 1868 and has been extended in more recent years to accommodate 5 separate classes and in 2019 Roots Nursery. As a smaller than average primary school Oakhill is a close-knit community which is nurturing and inclusive with a warm ‘family feel’.

Our school ethos is underpinned by our vision ‘Together we grow from acorns to oaks’

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour’ Isaiah 61:3

We know that every child is a unique gift and is precious to God. Together, we create the Oakhill family where we are given the space and opportunities to learn, grow and flourish. Our learning and experiences are valued, purposeful and relevant for life now and in the future. We believe our journey together will equip us with the tools to unlock the ‘Best versions of ourselves’.

We are not limited by the four walls of the classroom; teachers creatively plan learning opportunities in our extensive outdoor area, the local community as well as incorporating special visitors and educational trips to enhance and empower learning. Our school family is built on the foundation of six Christian Values which are intrinsic to all we do and are woven into every aspect of our learning and community. These include,

  • Kindness
  • Respect
  • Community
  • Friendship
  • Trust
  • Determination

Choosing a primary school for your child is one of the most important decisions you need to make; therefore, come and see for yourself. Call the office today to book a visit and I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Oakhill
