Learning Support Assistant
Location: Frisby C of E Primary School
Contract: Part Time, Permanent
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning? We have an exciting opportunity for a kind, caring and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team, working within the main school and The Orchard. This role involves working closely with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other additional needs, including those with an EHCP/High Needs.
You will provide personalised support for individual pupils or small groups, both inside and outside the classroom, helping them meet their agreed provision and targets thus enabling them to keep up or catch up with their learning. As a nurturing and consistent key adult, you will play a vital role in their intellectual, social and emotional development.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has previous experience in an educational setting, ideally supporting pupils aged 4–11 with special educational needs.
• Brings excellent behaviour management skills and emotional resilience.
• Understands how and when to intervene in children’s learning to help them progress.
• Can remain calm under pressure, is creative, innovative, and has a good sense of humour.
• Is competent in IT and has strong communication skills with children and adults.
• Is willing to undertake training such as Team Teach and interventions for SEN pupils.
• Ideally has experience in EYFS and KS1 and can manage intimate care for younger children.
Experience with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or emotional/behavioural challenges, would be an advantage.
