Design Technology Technician

Flexible Hours, to be negotiated with a minimum of 25 hours per week up to 32.5 hours, term time only. 

Surrey Pay Grade S5 - £28,546 to £30,581 (FTE): Actual salary based on 32.5 hours is £22,170 - £23,751

Are you passionate about design, technology, and the creative process? 

Oakwood School is seeking a highly motivated Design Technology Technician to join our vibrant and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in a busy, safety-focused department delivering an engaging curriculum to 1600 pupils at Key Stage 3 and a wide range of Key Stage 4 options, including Design and Technology, Hospitality and Catering, and Food Preparation and Nutrition.

Your Role would include:

• Prepare and maintain resources and equipment, ensuring all are safe, clean, and ready for use.

• Be a champion for health and safety for Design Technology, helping to lead safe working practices across the subject.

• Carry out risk assessments and regular safety checks, supporting staff and students to work safely at all times.

• Supervise and assist students during practical activities, always reinforcing safe behaviours.

• Work collaboratively with our dedicated team to maintain an engaging and safe learning space.

Training is available as required.

• Is committed to maintaining and promoting health and safety standards.

• Has a keen interest in design, creative processes, and technology.

• Has good practical and communication skills.

• Is able to adapt to changing priorities and work independently and as part of a team.
