Job Overview

Are you a passionate and driven teacher looking for the next step in your career? Oasis Academy Brightstowe is seeking an inspirational Head of Year to lead and support one of our vibrant student year groups from September 2025.

We’re ideally looking for an Head of Year preferably as an English specialist, but we also welcome applicants with any other background. Whether you're an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced practitioner, this is a fantastic opportunity to combine subject teaching with a meaningful pastoral leadership role.

As a Head of Year, you will work closely with your year team to create a strong sense of community and provide excellent pastoral care, while inspiring academic progress through high expectations and positive relationships.

The Right Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in English (preferred), or Maths, History, or RE
  • A proven or developing ability to lead and motivate students pastorally
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High expectations for behaviour, achievement and inclusion
  • A reflective, collaborative and passionate teaching approach
  • Up-to-date knowledge of teaching and behaviour management strategies
  • A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
