Are you passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing? Whether you’re looking for a career change or starting out in education, this role offers the chance to make a real impact within Weston-super-Mare.

No formal qualification? No problem. While a level 3 education/early years qualification is an advantage, it’s not essential. We welcome applicants with diverse experience, whether from the care sector, NHS, childcare, or volunteering with children.

Although there is no typical day for an learning support assistant (LSA) the role will usually involve working within a classroom and on a 1:1 basis to support pupils with special educational needs (SEND), adapting activities, encouraging positive behaviour and helping to maintain a calm learning environment.

About you

• A proactive, energetic, and committed individual who can engage pupils and inspire confidence.

• Calm, patient, and sensitive, with the ability to comfort children when needed.

• A positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating a supportive learning environment.

• Experience working with autistic children, social communication barriers, and complex needs is essential.

Role details

• Hours: 32.5 per week, Monday–Friday (8:15am–3:45pm)

• Contract: Fixed term until 31 August 2026

• Pay: E3 if unqualified, E4 if level 3 relevant qualification

• Start Date: 5 January 2026

• Interview: 1 December 2025

• Work across all year groups in a vibrant, inclusive school.
