Charborough Road Primary School has an exciting opportunity for a number of enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team!

Charborough Road is a dynamic and inspiring school with big ambitions! We have a strong staff team who are committed to our vision of ‘Learning for life together’. At Charborough Road Primary School we are proud of our Resource Base for pupils with Speech, Language and communication difficulties. Currently we are the only provision for children of primary school age in this area of need within both South Gloucestershire and Bristol Local Authority. All pupils allocated a Resource Base place have an Education Health and Care Plan (ECHP) and are referred to us via the Local Authority. Our Resource Base has a capacity of 18 children.

Currently we are looking for three new Teaching Assistants to join our team.  These positions are as follows :

18 hours per week working Term time only, plus INSETS on a temporary contract, ending 31th August 2022 (with potential of extension depending on funding) 

The right candidate will be:

• A Team Player
• Someone who is prepared to liaise closely with parents, teachers and outside agencies;
• Someone with an enthusiasm for education and learning;
• Someone who has a desire to help all children to succeed;
• Someone with experience of working with children with special educational needs;
• Someone who has the ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs.

You may work with individuals who have physical disabilities, sensory impairments (i.e. hearing or visual), speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, conditions such as autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or have a combination of these difficulties.  A key aspect of working in this field is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment. 

You will need:

• Level 2 “Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools” or equivalent
• Maths & English at Pass Level or GCSE “C” or above or equivalent
• To be able to liaise with a variety of staff including, class teacher, SENCO & HLTA
