Salary: Grade 5\6 Outer London, £25,347.18 - £28,916.37 (FTE £32,064 - £36,579) per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance

Orchard Hill College is an Outstanding Specialist College (Ofsted, April 2025) offering life-changing learning opportunities to young people and adults with a range of special education needs and/or disabilities. We operate vibrant community-based College Centres across London and Surrey, where committed specialist teams deliver a variety of programmes designed to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Students who study with us have a wide range of needs including profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties and specific medical needs. All students are individual, and their learning programme is designed to support and empower them to achieve their aspirations and goals, whilst developing skills to become more independent members of their community.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic and driven individual who will bring an innovative approach to student enrichment and the promotion of the student voice. A strong understanding of how to engage young adults who face barriers to learning, including those with SEND, is essential.
The Student Enrichment and Engagement Officer will be responsible for various areas, including cross-college enrichment, holiday programme, residential trips, student voice, and creating an alumni community. Through this, we aim to develop student skills, widen participation during college, and ensure learners have a voice both in college and within their local community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the planning, coordination, and continuous development of the College’s enrichment programme, ensuring it reflects student needs and interests by actively gathering and responding to student demand.
• Develop and maintain an annual enrichment calendar in collaboration with Heads of Centre, Marketing, and the Assessments, Placements and Student Services Team to maximise variety and engagement.
• Monitor, record, and evaluate student attendance and the impact of enrichment and engagement activities, implementing strategies to improve participation where required.
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of college residential trips.
• Coordinate the monitoring and management of physical and staffing resources associated with the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
• Build an alumni community, giving our ex-students an opportunity to return to their place of learning and talk about their experiences to our current students.
• Actively promote student discounts and financial support available to OHC students.
Key Requirements:
• English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Excellent listening skills
• Well organised and self-motivated
• Coordinating and supporting student participation in events, activities and opportunities.
• Ability to organise own workload and demonstrate autonomy, initiative and creativity.
• Ability to be solution focused, innovative and flexible in approach.
• High levels digital literacy, use of IT applications, software and social media that are relevant to young people.
• To be creative and have aspirational ideas for young people with SEND and complex needs.
• Track record of building relationships externally.
• Creative thinker – someone who has a track record in initiating and implementing new ideas.
• Results oriented.
• Experience of managing a budget.
• Able to interact positively with young people and adults with SEND.
• Awareness of legislative context e.g., Data Protection, Safeguarding.
• Willingness to travel across all Colleges, although you will be based in one regional for majority of the working week.
• Willingness to work outside normal working hours to attend evening and weekend events.
