Purpose:

As a Teacher of English, you will be the catalyst for our students' linguistic and literary development, bridging the gap between their current abilities and their future aspirations. You will create an engaging and inclusive environment in the classroom, ensuring that a love for reading and communication is at the heart of every lesson.

By working collaboratively within a dedicated Faculty, you will deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that celebrates diverse voices and challenges students to think critically. You will tailor your teaching to meet the rich and varied needs of our community, providing the academic scaffolding and encouragement necessary to close attainment gaps and raise standards. Ultimately, you will play a transformative role in inspiring students today and empowering them with the skills they need for life.

Duties (further details in the attached application pack):

  • Deliver a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum to students of varying ages and abilities to help them achieve their full academic potential.
  • Prepare and teach English lessons of a high standard that follow designated programmes of study and lead contributions to new ones.
  • Monitor, assess and report on the progress, attainment and development of students in your charge.
  • Maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies to ensure a pleasant and subject-focused learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum by working closely with colleagues to ensure continuity and progression.
  • Establish a positive learning experience that motivates and enthuses students regarding the importance of reading.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding their child's progress, behaviour and development.
  • Organise and participate in exciting and motivating trips and events to enrich the educational experience.
  • Adhere to school quality procedures including regular monitoring, evaluation and review of teaching practices.

We offer:

  • Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
  • Paid induction and training suited to the role
  • Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
