Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 3.50pm with a 38 minute unpaid lunch break

We have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician Level 2 to join the team at the Oxted School.

The post holder will work as part of a team of technicians servicing laboratories, preparing materials and equipment for demonstrations and practical lessons as requested by teaching staff, under the supervision of the Lead Science Technician and the Head of Science.

The post holder will also provide technical support including: providing Health and Safety guidance to pupils, experienced and trainee teachers; assisting in practical classes and carrying out demonstrations. Other duties will include: lifting/carrying equipment and walking up and down stairs with apparatus; disposal of waste materials; carrying out safety checks on materials; monitoring stock levels and administrative tasks such as record keeping.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above, together with a Science related A level or equivalent level of experience. Previous relevant work experience in a similar environment is essential, as is an understanding of Health and Safety requirements and experience of working with COSHH requirements. Good written and oral communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work independently and a part of a team.
