ALNCo (MPS/UPS & TLR1A): Full time permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, creative teacher who is passionate about developing their career as our ALNCo and a member of the school’s extended Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Deputy Headteacher. We are looking to recruit a teacher to effectively develop excellence in the learning and teaching and wellbeing of ALN learners. We value all members of our school community and are relentless in instilling in our pupils a desire to be the very best of themselves. We have the highest expectations of all our pupils and staff. We are very proud of our pupils and the supportive and inclusive learning community we have created.

If you are the exceptional ALNCo that we are looking for, you will:

• Lead manage and co-ordinate the strategic development of the school’s Additional Learning Provision for all learners with ALN.

• Be responsible for the progress, outcomes and wellbeing of our ALN learners and effectively deploy our team of support staff effectively

• Develop, supported by the Associate ALNCo the work of “Ty Ewenni” the school’s MLD Learner Resource Centre.

• Be willing to actively engage in collaborative professional learning opportunities and promote effective collaboration across the school

• Develop the confidence of our learners to enjoy learning and to participate fully in the life of the school community.

All staff at Pencoed are provided with a laptop, the school makes extensive use of Google Classrooms, Classcharts, My Concern and Provision Map.

Ty Gwyn, our former Caretaker’s house has recently been refurbished and is used extensively to support ALN learners and families. Ty Ewenni, our MLD LRC is currently undergoing a £300k refurbishment, in readiness for 24/25 to include a dedicated office space for the ALNCo and Associate ALNCo, a Sensory Room and outdoor area as well as new disabled toilets and a personal health care facility. This area will benefit from new furnishings.

As part of the school’s recent re-structure dedicated ALN administrative support is provided to the ALNCo and Associate ALNCo in ensuring that IDPs, review meetings and referrals are effectively managed.
