We seek to appoint a full-time Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work with students supported by the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Department at Ysgol Penglais School. The main focus of the role will be supporting students with a wide spectrum of ALN needs, including running literacy intervention sessions for small groups of students.
You may also support students in the classroom to enable them to effectively access the curriculum. This is a varied role that would suit an ambitious individual with a genuine interest in helping students reach their full potential.

Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide targeted support for students, including those with additional needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
- Use specialist skills, training and experience to provide outreach support to students with additional learning needs
- Assist with the development, implementation and review of Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
- Establish constructive relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs
- Promote inclusion, acceptance, independence and self-esteem for all students
- Support the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment
- Assist with the planning and delivery of specific learning activities, including literacy intervention programmes
- Monitor students’ responses to learning activities and accurately record progress and achievement
- Provide regular feedback to teachers on students’ progress, behaviour and engagement
- Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions
- Support students in accessing the curriculum, including literacy, numeracy and ICT-based learning activities
- Prepare and maintain learning resources and assist students in their use
- Provide clerical and administrative support as required, including photocopying and invigilation
- Assist with supervision before and after school, at lunchtimes and on educational visits
- Comply with safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection policies at all times
- Attend relevant meetings, training and professional development activities
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the Headteacher
