An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEN Learning Support Assistant to join The Pochin School on fixed term basis until 3rd January 2027 for 17.5 hours per week. We are looking for someone that is determined and professional with the willingness to learn.
The Learning Support Assistant is responsible for providing support to our pupils and teachers to provide high quality education. The successful candidate will work with whole classes, small groups and SEN pupils on an individual 1:1 basis.
This role is a rewarding one with a successful candidate having the opportunity to gain more experience in the classroom, and work with a supportive team who are enthusiastic about education and ensuring that the children reach their potential in all areas of the curriculum.
The SEN Learning Support Assistant will be responsible for:
• Supporting the development of social skills, friendships, and confidence
• Using positive reinforcement techniques.
• Adapting tasks, instructions, and materials to the pupil's learning level.
• Liaising with teachers, SENCO, therapists, and parents/carers regularly.
• Encouraging independence while being ready to offer support when needed.

The ideal candidate will:
• Be NVQ Level 2 qualified or equivalent
• Have experience of supporting teaching and learning in an educational setting; experience of supporting SEN is desirable
• Have strong empathy and understanding of individual student needs
• Have patience, resilience, and the ability to provide emotional support when needed
• Have good literacy and numeracy skills
