Hours: 9 hours per week (4pm – 6pm, Monday – Thursday + 1 hour pw for planning)

Polam Hall School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic Tutor with a specialism in English to commence in September 2022. This programme will continue until the end of term in July 2023 (term time only).

The Role:

We seek a committed Teacher who specialises in English (Language and literature to GCSE) and is experienced in tutoring - is enthusiastic and passionate about their subject and has high expectations of all pupils.

Applications from teachers or unqualified teachers with relevant experience and qualifications are welcomed.

To prepare and deliver a programme of lessons to small groups to support Senior pupils to develop knowledge and understanding that will allow them to address their learning with a view to improvement and overall success.

This tutor will be a skilled and reflective practitioner who is able to maximise the potential of all our pupils on this programme; who will use tutoring and assessment effectively to ensure that all pupils know and remember key knowledge and skills.

This tutor will work as part of a team alongside Heads of phase, class Teachers, SLT and the Pastoral team to ensure a full and effective Tutoring Programme is delivered taking individual pupil needs into account.

Polam Hall School is a 4 – 16 all-through academy and is part of Woodard Academies Trust. We have 750 pupils on roll, with two forms of entry in our Primary Phase and three forms in our Secondary Phase. Polam Hall is a school with a unique and long history which today is proud to be a fully comprehensive school serving the young people of Darlington and is rated Good by Ofsted – October 2021.
