The purpose of the role is to further develop the support and provision for students at Preston School. This role will involve working with both individual students and small groups outside of their normal lessons, to enhance their ability to access learning and improve their interactions both in and out of the classroom. This work will also help to improve their personal well-being and self-esteem. The vast majority of the students will have an identified Communication and Interaction Special Educational Need or Disability

Leading 1:1 and small group interventions for students of all years, but particularly Key Stage

Interventions that currently run include those listed below. It would be desirable that you should be have knowledge of and be able to offer at least some of the interventions listed below:

  • Forest School
  • Dog therapy
  • Lego therapy
  • Life Skills
  • Mindfulness
  • Archery
  • Talk about
  • The previous post-holder has also supported and been responsible for off-site interventions such as horse-riding and other trips and visit
  • We are very open to exploring new interventions that would support the well-being and learning of our student
  • Liaising with SENCO, pastoral staff and the Senior Leadership Team over the progress of students
  • Liaising with the families of students on intervention programmes, to update on their progress and barriers
  • To liaise with outside agencies who also work with students on intervention programmes
