We are seeking to develop further the already excellent Mathematics provision that Prince Henry’s offers to all its students and therefore are looking to appoint a newly-qualified or experienced teacher who will be able to teach the subject at GCSE. The successful candidate will be committed to the highest standards of academic achievement and behaviour and will genuinely enjoy working with teenagers of all abilities. They will have a clear understanding of how to achieve and maintain high standards and will already have a record as an excellent classroom teacher or, for applicants still in training, the potential to become outstanding.
We believe that this post offers an excellent opportunity for job satisfaction and for personal and professional development and we welcome applications from suitably qualified Early Career Teachers or those with teaching experience. It provides an exciting opportunity to work in a large and high-performing department with supportive & caring colleagues. The school has been oversubscribed for several years, and it is a feature of our intake that the very great majority of our students wish to do well and wish to work hard, with the school, to achieve this.
Results in Mathematics have been consistently very good and Government statistics show us to be well above the national average and also significantly better than other similar schools. In 2024 at KS4, 79% of the cohort achieved Grades 9-4. Results at A Level have also been consistently high. The Department is thriving and well led and is highly regarded within the school and by students and parents. There is a strong management structure in place within the department, reflecting the importance of the subject within the school.
Prince Henry’s offers a full programme of STEAM and other extra-curricular activities made possible by the outstanding commitment of members of staff. The successful candidate will be most welcome to contribute to the school’s general programme of extra-curricular activities. The appointee will also be a Form Tutor and be part of a year team.
We are fortunate to have an exceptional and dedicated group of staff who are committed to providing our students with a first-class education. We only recruit the finest teachers who will inspire, motivate and challenge our students to be the ‘best they can be’.
Prince Henry's High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
In accordance with our statutory obligations under Keeping Children Safe in Education the school is required to conduct an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This may help identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available online, which the school might want to explore with you at interview.
