Thank you for interest in joining Queensbury School. We always seek to appoint exceptional, dedicated staff to support the education of our students. The key aspect of our employment process is that we appoint the right people.

We provide secondary education for up to 250 students with specific special educational needs: MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health). All students have an Education Health Care Plan or are in the process of receiving one.

Queensbury School is part of the Education Impact Academy Trust and joined on the 1st September 2020. Significant investment of £3.5 million is being invested into the school, to ensure our staff and students have a learning environment for the 21st century. We work closely with Wilson Stuart School and other associated organisations who have a track record of Outstanding Ofsted judgements.

Students are at the heart of everything we do. Our school has four focused curriculums to meet the needs of our amazing students and their differing needs: Discovery, Explorer, Venture and Navigator.

We want to employ somebody who is able to build on the strengths that all of our staff have achieved. We look to appoint someone who is capable, enthusiastic and highly motivated, who embraces opportunities and challenges. Our staff are highly skilled, work in smaller class sizes and really care about every young person. We provide that personalised approach that we know is so important to students, parents and families.

At the centre of this, is our ongoing commitment to meaningful partnerships with our students, parents, governors, trustees, and professional partners. We are committed to ensuring that we go the extra mile for all of our students and this is evident from the attitudes of both staff and students. We believe every child has the ability to unleash their limitless potential.

In addition, we support our staff to advance in their career and move into new positions when possible, where they can lead, manage, influence, coach and mentor others. Working in our school could encompass a number of different roles;

Teaching and learning support – mainly classroom based, delivering education to our students and supporting them to learn.

Student support and welfare - these roles may take place in school or in the home, often supporting parents/carers as well as students, ensuring their welfare throughout their education.

Administrative and management – although not involved directly with student learning, these roles ensure the smooth running of our school.

I.T. – assisting throughout the school where more technical skill is needed, for example supporting with ICT, including ensuring lessons are safe for everyone involved.

Facilities - these roles help our students to flourish by ensuring a safe and healthy environment; such as Site staff, Lunchtime Supervisors, Cleaners and Catering staff.

Our staff have access to a wide range of CPD. The diverse opportunities available mean you will always be learning and adding to your range of specialised abilities, developing skills which will further your career. Here is what our school does to help staff to enhance their career:

  • Keep staffs’ knowledge and skills current.
  • Assisting staff to become more effective in the workplace, with new opportunities, awareness and abilities.

Queensbury School is a great place to work. I think that when most people start a new job, they feel that they can or will be able to carry out their duties and make a difference. Joining Queensbury was a fantastic career move. Having never worked in Special Education before, I was nervous about how I would adapt. Everyone at Queensbury has been extremely welcoming and supportive. Teachers, TAs and management are always on hand to answer questions and provide support. As a whole school the staff are united in the pupils come first and it’s all about providing accessible education in whatever way fits. The new Head is present in school and has brought it back to life, something the previous wasn’t there or interested in doing. Good staff deserve good management.
