Deputy Nursery Manager (Maternity Cover)
Salary: £33,097 per annum
Contract: 7 months Fixed term (maternity cover)
Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week
Location: Raised in Bristol at Easton Community Centre (BS5)

We’re looking for a passionate Deputy Nursery Manager to join the team at Raised in Bristol at Easton Community Centre for Maternity Cover. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager to support the day-to-day running of the nursery.

Love play, mess, giggles and those “I did it!” moments? Come join a team that celebrates childhood, backs your creativity and gives you the space to make every day magical.

This setting was the first Raised in Bristol nursery to open its doors back in early 2018. The annexe was purpose-built as a nursery when the community centre opened in 1989 and has been fully refurbished to return it to its original purpose. This is a 67-place nursery and, like all of our Raised in Bristol nurseries, it has a more relaxed feel than some larger settings.

The nursery is located in the vibrant community of Easton, just a 5-minute walk from Stapleton Road and Lawrence Hill Roundabout, both have regular bus links across Bristol, also only a 10-minute walk from Stapleton Road train station and is easily accessible from across the city by bike. There is also free on-street parking in the local area.

Our approach centres on child-led learning through play, with a thoughtfully designed curriculum that nurtures curiosity and supports each child’s unique interests. From the baby room through to preschool, we focus on every stage of development—helping children grow in confidence and preparing them for their exciting next steps towards school.

We’re a passionate bunch at Raised In! We love what we do, and we’re committed to helping the youngest children reach their full potential in friendly, nurturing, and engaging home-from-home environments. We’re building something special and we’d love you to be part of it.

What about you?

You’re the kind of person who…

  • Lights up around children and believes in the power of play to spark meaningful learning, leading by example in your everyday practice.
  • Brings energy, curiosity and a proactive, can-do attitude — supporting others to try new approaches and grow in confidence.
  • Cares deeply about inclusion, teamwork and making a difference, playing an active role in building a positive, supportive culture for both children and colleagues.
  • Is reflective, open to feedback, and committed to your own development, while also encouraging and guiding others in theirs.
  • Is passionate about giving every child the best possible start in life and excited to help shape and lead a team that’s rethinking how Early Years education is done.

This is a fixed-term contract for 7 months to cover maternity leave, starting from September 2026 and ending April 2027, but with the possibility of a permanent position if a suitable role becomes available after the contract ends.

Raised In is dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome people from all backgrounds, identities and experiences, and we’re especially keen to hear from those underrepresented in early years and social enterprise. If you share our values and want to help shape inclusive spaces where children can thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

  • High standards for yourself, team and the nursery
  • A reflective mindset, open to feedback and ongoing self-improvement
