ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT - Full time hours only and permanent

37 hours per week (8am to 4pm Monday to Friday), term time plus one week

GRADE C: £25,186 - £26,244 FTE / £22,096 - £23,024 actual salary

To start as soon as possible

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced administrator to join a supportive team who work collaboratively to contribute to the continued success of the school. We are seeking to appoint an Administration Assistant to provide support with all aspects of school administration.

Key responsibilities will include providing administrative support for a variety of areas including departments, pastoral leaders and senior management; the administration of school trips and events; as well as support for our front of house areas.

Liaising with school staff and external parties as appropriate will also be an important part of this busy and varied role. You may also be required, on occasion, to assist with any other relevant duties which might include helping to support school events or whole school administrative tasks.

We are looking for a proactive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to help identify improved systems within our school operations as well as assist in the smooth running of our established processes. Responsibilities will not be restricted to those listed above and the right candidate will require a high level of flexibility.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Experience using Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Highly organised, accurate and detail conscious work ethic
  • Ability to use discretion and respect confidentiality

Experience of working with SIMS (or other education MIS) would be beneficial but training can be provided. A knowledge and understanding of the education sector and/or experience of working within a school environment or other busy office environment would be desirable.

This vacancy is full time, 8:00am-4:00pm Monday to Friday and will be term time plus one week.

We are a welcoming, caring and supportive working environment and high priority is given to the wellbeing of our staff and students.

In addition, we offer:

  • A generous pension scheme for support staff
  • Access to a Cycle to Work scheme
  • An active Staff Wellbeing Committee with numerous enrichment activities on offer
  • On-site free parking
  • A wellbeing day per academic year (prorated for part timers)
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme

Robert May’s School, which dates from 1694, is a high attaining and oversubscribed 11-16 Academy school with a distinctive ethos based on the charitable principles of our founder. We would welcome the opportunity for an informal discussion or visit.

Should you wish to apply for this post, please visit the school website and our Careers page or contact the school for an application form.

An online search will be conducted for all shortlisted candidates to identify any past or current incidents or issues that might affect your suitability to work with children and undertake this role. This is in line with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

The closing date for applications is midday on Monday 4th August 2025.

Interviews will take place as soon as possible afterwards. Please note that the school reserves the right to interview on receipt of applications, and to appoint prior to the deadline, so early application is recommended.
