Teacher of Biology
Permanent
Starting August 2024
Rochdale Sixth Form College (RSFC) opened in 2010 to address the significant underachievement in A Level performance in the borough. Since then it has raised achievement in the area dramatically and is recognised nationally as a centre of excellence. The college is rated Ofsted outstanding and, is consistently ranked as one of the highest performing colleges in the country according to the DfE's performance tables and national achievement rate tables.
Due to expansion and increase in student numbers we are looking for a Teacher of Biology. RSFC currently offers AQA A Level Biology to approximately 400 students on the new linear specification, and BTEC Applied Science National Diploma to approximately 240 students. The biology department has dedicated labs, demonstration labs and teaching rooms, including an enviable inventory of experimental equipment. The department is well resourced, with study areas throughout that are well used by both students and teachers. There are currently 8 Biology teachers, with a great team ethos of sharing best practice and teaching resources, to ensure the students are provided with the best possible experience of biology whilst at RSFC. Due to the calibre of teachers in the biology department, you will be expertly guided through level 3 teaching therefore previous sixth form teaching is not essential. The department also offers a range of exciting enrichment activities, and the area is supported by two full-time technicians.
You will be joining RSFC at a very exciting time in its development and there are always opportunities for career progression for hardworking and resilient colleagues.
Applications should be returned to arrive no later than 12.00pm on 15th May 2024.
Interviews will take place W/C 20th May 2024.
