Hours: Full Time Term Time  Only

The role:

We are seeking to appoint a graduate resident Boarding Assistant with Teaching Assistant Responsibilities from September 2024 on a one-year fixed term contract. Applicants will also need to be confident in offering classroom support in Maths, English and SEN; a degree or experience in these areas will be a bonus.

This role is to support the boarding and teaching staff to facilitate the active participation of students in the academic and social activities of the School. The successful candidates must be interested in the pastoral care of students and be keen to enjoy and participate in all aspects of a boarding school life.

The post requires the successful candidates to assist with the day to day running of the boarding houses, help to organise, run and staff the Weekend Programme, to help with administrative tasks involved in boarding and to play a complementary and supporting role to students in class by encouraging pupils in their learning and the acquisition of skills. This is a residential post. It can be a demanding role where the working day consists of Teaching Assistant duties within the timetable and includes morning, evening and weekend duties in boarding. You will be given 24 hours off duty per week, along with additional time off when not needed in school or not on duty in House.

The successful candidates will be team players with a proven track record of being proactive, highly organised and able to act on their own initiative. They will have to demonstrate a fair but firm approach and must enjoy working with young people and have energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the nature of working in a boarding school.

This role would be ideal for graduates wishing to gain experience in a boarding school environment.
