Senior Recreation Assistant

£21,696 pa plus £1,164 pa shift allowance

Are you enthusiastic, energetic and willing to work as part of a friendly team to provide a fun, safe and quality experience for all of our users? This could be your opportunity for you to join our new team at Royal Russell School.

You will be a key holder of the facilities and assist in the day to day running of the pool, sports hall and other facilities that are hired out on a regular basis. You will oversee the casual lifeguards, acting as their mentor and role model. You should have real attention to detail as you will be ensuring the safety of our young students and customers as well as the cleanliness of the pool environment. You will be responsible for regular cleaning, preparation of areas and equipment as programmed throughout the year, so you will need to be hard working and have a conscientious attitude. Excellent communication and social skills are necessary as you will often be the first point of contact for customers. Health and safety is paramount therefore attendance at regular pool training sessions every month is required.

You will need to have your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with up to date NPLQ training records, AED and a First Aid certificate. It is desirable that you also have a Pool Plant Operators qualification or are working towards this qualification.

You will have the opportunity to work in a vibrant, exciting and friendly environment in our recently refurbished facilities with a new team of high calibre, self-motivated, positive, supportive, inclusive and progressive staff dedicated to enhancing the customer experience.

Royal Russell is situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon, only 30 minutes from Central London and educates over 1000 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 18. We are proud of our facilities that rank amongst the best in the South of England and our pupils, parents and staff experience a warm and friendly environment with strong pastoral care for every pupil alongside a comprehensive co-curricular and enrichment programme. In March 2016 the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) judged the school as ‘excellent’ in all areas and in October 2018 we successfully passed a full ISI compliance inspection.

We offer excellent benefits including a competitive salary on our own salary scale with scope for progression, working in our beautiful green parkland estate with easy access to transport links, (we are opposite Coombe Lane tram stop) and being part of the vibrant community of the historic Royal Russell School. We offer an immediate non-contributory pension, free life cover, free car parking, free meals, a discount on School fees, and the use of our sporting and gym facilities, all combined with the opportunity to be part of the vibrant community of the historic Royal Russell School. Full details of our staff benefits and recruitment procedures can be found on our School recruitment page.

Applications will be considered on receipt and should be submitted by 9.00am on Monday 7 June 2021. Interviews will be held in w/c 14 June 2021. If you have not heard from us by this date you should presume that you have not been successful on this occasion.
