The Wellington Academy opened in 2009 to serve Tidworth. Ludgershall and the surrounding area: an area with a significant military presence. Consequently, we are proud to educate a large number of children from service families and with the growing super-garrison based on Salisbury plain we expect our numbers to continue to rise.

The Wellington Academy joined the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust on 1st April 2020 and are following their approach to teaching which has seen them gain an outstanding rating by Ofsted. By joining the Trust, it brings a whole wealth of exciting CPD opportunities which is your right to undertake as a teacher as you develop in your career.

Our curriculum breadth is focused on ensuring every pupil is exposed to the widest range of subjects possible to equip them to leave school ready to achieve their dreams and fulfil their goals. Our vision for all our pupils is that they become Inquisitive, Ambitions and Independent young adults and when they leave us, they will have the skills, knowledge and character they need to take them on to University or the work place. Our pupils are friendly and happy and value good relationships with their teachers. In a recent survey over 96% said they would recommend The Wellington Academy to a friend: a simply magnificent figure.

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and innovative Teacher of Professional Cooking at Level 2 to Sixth Form students with the ability and/or potential to teach Food to students from Year 7 to Year 11. This is an exciting time to be joining our Technology and Visual Arts team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach Food from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. Food is a popular subject at all Key Stages. We will also consider applications from a qualified post 16 teacher or lecturer to teach at Level 2 and 3 (City & Guilds Professional Cookery) and the post would suit an industry trained professional who has QTS or QTLS. If you do not have QTS or QTLS and want to qualify then we will also consider your application and how we can support you in achieving this ambition. The role is advertised on a full time basis but part time will be considered. We would also welcome applications from experienced teachers or NQTs. Our range of facilities is extensive, including two modern specialist food teaching rooms for Key Stage 3 and 4, and a professional teaching kitchen for Key Stage 5.

Visits to The Wellington Academy are encouraged and can be arranged by emailing the HR team. All visits will take place after school hours.

The application form is available with more details from our website. All completed applications should be sent to the HR Department for Wellington Schools.
