About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to become the Head of Department for Life Sciences at Eccles Sixth Form College. This high performing department includes our Applied Science, Animal, Equine and Veterinary Nursing provisions and the successful candidate will continue to drive forward developments in this high performing department. Our students have access to a brand-new industry standard animal unit which boats a variety of species including small mammals, exotics and farm animals, a fully equipped veterinary nursing suite and a riding school with over 50 horses with outstanding equestrian facilities. The laboratories provide an excellent learning environment for our Applied Science students. Courses run from level one through to level 4 with a variety of pathways in animal management, equine, veterinary nursing and applied science.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher and experienced manager with experience of implementing quality improvement strategies in teaching and learning at a departmental and cross college level. They will demonstrate an excellent understanding and experience of monitoring and evaluating performance indicators in order to put in place strategies that will improve attendance, achievement rates and value-added progress measures. They will be forward-thinking, creative and committed to providing the very best learning experiences for our students. They will also show that they have excellent communication and organisational skills and an ability to work well with others.
