An Infrastructure Technician provides support to students and colleagues, helping them to be productive when using technology, by problem solving and trouble-shooting non routine problems.

Apprenticeship summary
To contribute to the effective running of all aspect of the Trusts’ computer networks and ICT facilities; including the provision of support for the computer and electronic communication systems on a day to day basis
To work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge to complete a college qualification in order to secure employment and progress in an IT field
To gain insight and practical hands on experiences in the Trusts’ infrastructure and systems including, but not limited to:
Management of Active Directory & Group Policy
Physical Server Maintenance & Diagnostics
Management of VMware Clusters & Virtual Machines
Fully Managed, Follow-Me Print System
Helpdesk Ticketing System - Supply first line support to staff and students
Asset Management
CCTV
AV & Peripheral Maintenance/Installation
Stock Control & Management
Preventative Maintenance, PC & Laptop Repairs
Carry out daily checks of ICT Suites and other tech equipment
Additional responsibilities:
To be aware of and adhere to all Trust and Academy policies, maintaining confidentiality at all times
Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young people s/he is responsible for, or comes into contact with
To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate with the support of your line manager
To be a team member; undertaking other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as reasonably required and directed dependent upon the needs of the Trust. The Trust reserves the right to revise this job description at any time

You will be willing to complete and undertake the Infrastructure technician Apprenticeship Level 3
Candidates must have good GCSE Grades in English and Maths
Computer science L1 or L2 would be an advantage
Things to consider
In April 2020, the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices rose to £4.15 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
