As Head of Automotive, you will lead the department through its next phase of growth, driving innovation across both full-time programmes and apprenticeships. You will oversee high-quality delivery, strengthen industry partnerships, and ensure our learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge employers’ demand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Automotive Department, ensuring alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan.
  • Drive curriculum development across light vehicle, body repair, paint, and electric/hybrid vehicle technologies.
  • Expand and oversee apprenticeship provision, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, and strong employer engagement.
  • Develop strong relationships with industry partners to create work placement opportunities and ensure the curriculum aligns with market needs.
  • Lead and mentor a dynamic team of educators, ensuring their professional development and engagement.
  • Develop strong relationships with local, regional, and national employers to co-design provision and create work placement opportunities.
  • Oversee student recruitment, retention, and outcomes, ensuring a student-cantered approach in all departmental activities.
  • Maintain compliance with college policies, including safeguarding, equality, and diversity initiatives.
  • Apprenticeship & Adult Programme Growth: Expand enrolment, improve engagement, and enhance programme quality through innovative strategies.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • A proven leader in education or industry with significant experience in Automotive or related disciplines.
  • A track record of driving improvements in student outcomes and programme quality.
  • Strong understanding of automotive curriculum and apprenticeship standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowering learning environment.
