We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer in English Functional Skills to join our team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality teaching to adult learners and supporting their academic and personal development within a supportive and dynamic Further Education environment. The role includes a regular commitment to evening teaching, ensuring flexible access to learning for our adult students.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Deliver high-quality teaching to adult learners across English Functional Skills and GCSE programmes

• Provide access to learning, assessment and achievement in line with awarding body requirements

• Undertake a teaching load including two evenings per week

• Prepare schemes of work, assessments and teaching resources

• Support learners in achieving their targets through progress tracking, reviews and maintaining learner records

• Use ILT and multimedia to develop engaging learning materials

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

• Degree in English Language or substantial equivalent experience

• Level 5 Teaching Qualification / Certificate in Education (or willingness to work towards)

• Experience teaching and assessing Functional Skills and GCSE English

• Track record of raising achievement for diverse groups of learners

• Ability to prepare engaging and effective teaching materials

• Strong organisational, administrative and presentation skills

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Ability to inspire, motivate and support learners to achieve and progress

• Ability to adapt teaching to meet varied learner needs

• Experience using ILT to present information and enhance learning

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice

• Commitment to new developments and embracing change

• Willingness to work two evenings per week

Desirable:

• Experience teaching adults in the FE sector
