Sandwell College is delighted to invite applications for a Full Time, Fixed Term Lecturer position in Foundation Learning, available for the duration of the academic year. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, inspirational teaching and support access to learning for learners with SEND, including associated tutorial duties.
- Provide teaching, learning and assessment opportunities that meet awarding body requirements and RARPA standards to promote learner achievement.
- Complete essential administrative tasks to support effective programme delivery, including preparing schemes of work and assessment activities.
- Act as a course tutor, supporting learners to achieve their targets through regular tracking, progress reviews and accurate maintenance of student records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning and the overall student experience, focusing on attendance, retention, achievement, progression and value-added outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies, college partners, local businesses and employers to help meet the diverse needs of learners.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- An academic background in Foundation Learning is essential, along with a recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above.
- We will also consider applicants who are committed to working towards a Level 5 teaching qualification and have relevant experience in a Foundation Learning role.
- We are seeking individuals who can inspire students through passion, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to supporting their progress and success.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
✅ Accepted Qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).

- PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults)
