Sandwell College is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in GCSE English Language on a full time, permanent basis. The postholder will be responsible for delivering GCSE English programmes to resit learners 16–18-year-olds, supporting learner progress and achievement, and contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement activities. The role requires a consistent focus on high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment, alongside effective learner support within a further education setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure students have a rewarding and challenging learning experience that supports them in reaching their full potential and achieving strong academic outcomes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning quality, promoting positive student outcomes and an engaging College experience
  • Deliver allocated programmes as directed by the line manager
  • Participate in curriculum planning and development
  • Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
  • Carry out administrative responsibilities in line with College policies
  • Take responsibility for course leadership, including course tutorship and personal tutoring
  • Work collaboratively within course teams to ensure high-quality delivery

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in English
  • A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Experience delivering and assessing GCSE English Language
  • A strong commitment to student success and continuous professional development
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
