We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed Lecturer to join our Psychology department on a part-time, fixed-term basis until the end of the 2025/26 academic year. Psychology is one of the most popular subjects amongst students at the college. This role reports directly to the Head of Section.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lecturer in Psychology, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging, high-quality lessons that stretch and challenge our learners. You will support curriculum development, maintain accurate academic and administrative records, and take responsibility for a range of courses including course tutorship and personal tutoring. The role also includes contributing to enrichment and recruitment activities such as open events, parents’ evenings, and student interviews.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A relevant degree and/or professional qualification
  • A recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above
  • Experience delivering high-quality teaching and learning in psychology
  • Knowledge of preparing, delivering and evaluating appropriate learning materials
  • Familiarity with key skills/functional skills frameworks
  • Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to inspire and motivate learners of varying abilities
  • Experience using ILT and multimedia learning tools in the classroom
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support new developments
  • A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£30,583 - £46,263), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

✅ Accepted Qualifications:

DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)

Certificate in Education

PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)

DET (Diploma in Education and Training)

DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£25,611 - £28,817).

PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)

CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
