Streatham & Clapham High School (SCHS) is seeking a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Drama and Theatre Studies to share their passion for performing arts with students across the School.
You will deliver engaging Drama lessons to motivated and talented students at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level, inspiring excellent attainment through high-standards of teaching and learning. Additionally, you will play a key role in the School’s vibrant co-curricular programme, contributing to a range of activities and creative productions that encourages imagination and inspires students.
To succeed in this role, you will be a positive, enthusiastic, and engaging individual with a demonstrable passion for, and in-depth knowledge of, Drama and Theatre Studies. Previous experience teaching Drama from KS3 to KS5 is essential, along with experience of supporting co-curricular activities and school productions.
Drama at Streatham & Clapham High School
Our Drama Department aims to foster curiosity in our girls, encouraging them to be imaginative and use theatre as a way to explore and make sense of the world around them. We offer a vibrant co-curricular programme of productions, with recent shows including ‘Medea’, ‘Dido’ and ‘Aeneas’, modern adaptations of ‘Girls Like That’ and ‘Second Person Narrative’, as well as musicals such as ‘School of Rock’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, and ‘Oliver!’.
Pupils also have the opportunity to attend a wide range of trips, both locally and to the West End. This has recently included ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, ‘The Mousetrap’ and ‘Elektra’. Girls also frequently take part in acting and physical theatre workshops run by visiting practitioners.
