Severn Federation Academy Trust

Learning together with minds that think and hearts that care

Following the successes of the Severn Federation, the Severn Federation Academy Trust was formed in January 2021. Our growing MAT now consists of nine primary schools of varying sizes with one being a sponsored academy. We welcomed two new schools to our family in December 2025, Iron Acton Church of England Primary (Diocese of Bristol) and Hawkesbury Church of England Primary (Diocese of Gloucester).

We continue to build a community of schools in the South Gloucestershire area to collaborate with the schools in the Forest of Dean. We are a mixed MAT comprising one Voluntary Aided; seven Voluntary Controlled and a community school - this allows us to draw on a wide range of knowledge, skills and expertise to support each other.

Our schools are creative, inspiring, nurturing and inclusive places to learn and work. Each school celebrates its own unique identity with a strong Christian distinctiveness in our Church schools.

The Severn Federation Academy Trust provides excellent partnerships and support to our schools, developing outstanding learning communities. We work closely with many local and national organistions including: University of Gloucester to provide Initial Teacher Education; Odyssey Teaching School Hub; GLOW Maths Hub, English Hub; Diocese of Gloucester; Diocese of Bristol; seeking out the best practice.

Our strong central team provide a wide range of support and services to our schools and are never more than a phone call away.

At the Severn Federation Academy Trust, we put children at the heart of all that we do. Through the love we provide to all in our communities, everyone flourishes to live life in all its fullness.

Vision & Ethos

Image_1.jpg

Our vision is to be creative schools learning together in inclusive, inspiring and nurturing Christian communities where all children and adults are loved and achieve their best.

At the Severn Federation Academy Trust, everyone works together to put children at the heart of all that we do:

  • We are a family of schools, committed to our partnership, yet retaining our separate identities and individuality.
  • We collaborate, seeking out the best practice from within our Trust and from the wider educational world to provide robust challenge and support.
  • We value each individual and believe that through working together, we can achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • We believe that every school, staff member and child contribute to the success of our Trust.
  • We make no excuse for having high expectations – our children deserve the best!
  • We build learning experiences for all children which relentlessly and intentionally celebrate equity, diversity, belonging, inclusion and justice.
  • We enable children to flourish and to live life in all its fullness.

Our Trust Offer

At the Severn Federation Academy Trust, we want the very best for every member of our community. We believe that schools are stronger together and that through collaboration we can achieve our aim of providing an excellent education in inclusive, nurturing and creative environments.

Our central team work closely with all our schools to provide support and challenge, developing the very best leadership through nationally recognised programmes of CPLD.

The Trust Business and Operations team work closely with schools on an individual basis supporting them to meet the needs of their children, families and staff.
