At Sherwood Park School, we “Break The Mould: Redefining teaching and learning to realise the potential of every individual - working supportively together in a trans-disciplinary way to achieve the best possible outcomes for our learners. Underpinning this mission is our LEARN ethos, which puts the respect and wellbeing of our learners and each other at the centre of every decision we make - we are a values led school.

Listening and responding to the voices of everyone in our school community and beyond

Nurturing the individual to develop autonomy and independence

Sherwood Park School is an all age (3-19) Foundation Special School for pupils with Severe/ Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and /or disabilities (SLD/PMLD), as well as pupils who are Autistic with complex support needs. The school is unique with two existing Campuses - Sherwood Park and Sherwood Hill to meet the highly individualised needs of each of the learners. We are excited to be opening a third campus in September 2025. The Manor Campus is designed to meet the needs of primarily autistic learners as well as some with moderate learning difficulties, many of whom have additional differences and complexities.

We are looking for teachers with recent and successful class teaching experience who have high expectations of what children and young people with learning disabilities and autism can achieve. Experience of teaching pupils with learning disabilities and / or autism in a special school is desirable, but we have lots of experience supporting teachers with a mainstream background to succeed. Teaching in a special school is unbelievably rewarding - If you have been considering a move to SEND teaching, this could be the right move for you!

Please note applicants must demonstrate how they meet all sections and subsections of the person specification for this role.
