Riverbank Academy currently have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Specialist Learning Support Assistant with BSL Level 2 to join the team, to provide bilingual (BSL) communication support working for an individual.
You’ll be responsible for explaining and discussing curriculum content in order to ensure understanding of tasks and information. Using auditory aural methods, Sign Supported English and Total Communication
to enable access to the curriculum and communication with peers.
Working hours:
8:45-4:00 (Monday)
8:45-3:15 (Tues-Friday)
Job requirements
- British Sign Language Level 2
- A desire to continue to improve literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, with Grade C/4 achieved in English and Maths
- Knowledge of the needs and characteristics of young people with complex SEND
- To communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with students, staff and parents
- Able to support students aged from 11-19 in moving and handling and personal care
- Able to move physiotherapy equipment with appropriate training and guidance from specialists this includes the manoeuvring of manual wheelchairs
