An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Sir Robert Woodard Academy, an Ofsted-rated 'Good' school in Lancing, for someone looking to start or build their career in Human Resources.

The School

The Sir Robert Woodard Academy, part of the Woodard family of schools, is a dynamic and popular 11–18 academy located between Worthing and Brighton, serving the students of Lancing, Sompting and Shoreham. Our aim is that every student is known and nurtured and is provided with learning experiences that allow them to fulfil their potential. We believe that students succeed when the school environment is caring and orderly; every member of staff has a part to play in achieving this.

The Position

An opportunity to join a friendly and busy Admin team with a strong, shared purpose, and a commitment to providing excellent human resources services to the academy and Trust. The HR Administrative Assistant will report directly to the HR Manager and will assist with all general HR administration, as required from the day-to-day business. This is an incredibly broad role and you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of HR admin skills and experience. Daily duties will vary according to the academy needs, but typically will include providing excellent admin and clerical support to the HR Manager, maintaining files and databases to a high standard, inputting a wide range of data onto the relevant systems, liaising with staff and external bodies. It may also involve assisting the Office Manager with other whole-school administrative tasks from time to time. Please review the Job Description for further details on the role responsibilities.

The position is temporary for a fixed term to end in July 2022, during term time and inset days. There are 20 weekly hours in this role, to be worked on-site within the core academy hours: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday but otherwise by mutual agreement. The rate of pay is equivalent to £10.21 per hour, paid monthly in arrears. You will receive the same amount of pay each month; support staff are entitled to be entered into the Local Government Pension Scheme subject to qualifying conditions. All staff have access to an employee wellness programme, free on-site parking and a cycle to work scheme.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and enthusiastic with a positive ‘can do’ approach and the ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a busy team environment. Candidates must have excellent administrative, clerical and organisational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks at once. Candidates must be able to communicate in a professional and friendly manner with a number of stakeholders, and have a good working knowledge of IT systems. Please review the person specification for further details on the skills and attributes required of the post-holder.

Our commitment to Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share in this commitment. All posts will be subject to safeguarding and vetting checks, including the receipt of two satisfactory references. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record self-declaration form. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check, therefore individuals on the children’s barred list (and adults barred list where relevant) should not apply. There is a six month probation period for all post-holders.

The Academy is committed to equality of opportunity. We positively welcome applications from all sections of the community.

If you are interested, please apply online before the closing date demonstrating how your skills and experience meet the essential requirements of the role. CVs alone will not be accepted.
