An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Sir Robert Woodard Academy in Lancing, for TWO reliable and efficient Catering Assistants to join our busy catering team as soon as possible.

The School

The Sir Robert Woodard Academy, part of the Woodard family of schools, is a dynamic and popular 11–18 academy located between Worthing and Brighton, serving the students of Lancing, Sompting and Shoreham. Our aim is that every student is known and nurtured and is provided with learning experiences that allow them to fulfil their potential. We believe that students succeed when the school environment is caring and orderly; every member of staff has a part to play in achieving this.

The Position 

The opportunity to join a friendly and supportive catering team with a strong, shared purpose and a commitment  to providing healthy and nutritious school meals to our staff and students. Daily duties will include food preparation, stocking up, clearing away, cleaning, washing up and operating the till. A good level of fitness and dexterity is required as the role involves standing for long periods, bending, stretching, twisting, kneeling, squatting and being able to lift, carry, push and/or pull loads weighing up to 10kg and to cope with exposure to extremes of temperature. The positions are permanent: during term time and all inset days, working over 39 weeks of the year. There are fixed hours worked daily, Monday-Friday and applicants make choose from the following options:

                                                               OPTION A*: 7.15am to 2.30pm: £9.25 ph Actual Salary £13,936pa

                                                               OPTION B*: 8.45am to 2.30pm: £9.25 ph Actual Salary £11,355pa

                                                 *Please state in your application which working hours option you would prefer. 

The rate of pay is equivalent to £9.25 per hour, paid monthly in arrears. You will receive the same amount of pay each month; support staff are entered into the Local Government Pension Scheme. All staff have access to an employee wellness programme, free on-site parking and a cycle to work scheme.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and enthusiastic with a positive ‘can do’ approach and the ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a busy team environment. Candidates must have a good level of fitness and dexterity, due to the physical nature of the role and be able to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with students and staff alike. A satisfactory level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills is also required in order to complete required safeguarding and role related training.
